We have been asked, “What is the meaning of ‘emerge!’ as is used for the title of this online Journal?”

A good question, and for us, an excellent opportunity to explain the use of the word “emerge!” in our title.

The word “emerge” here refers to the ‘coming forth’, the ‘unfolding’, the ‘emergence’ of one’s True Self from the past moment when we were not fully genuine. In the patristic/existential thinking of Father Stavrophoremonk Symeon, the development of the human personality is an ever evolving process. One who’s journey is Christocentric and struggles with “pathos” in an effort that will allow the soul to regain control of the mind and the body is also experiencing the realization of his/her potentiality. Therefore, as we develop the many aspects as belongs to human potentia we do so by emergence from one shade of “old Self” to a another until we reach the “new man”, our True Self. This continuous unfolding of our existence, this ever emerging towards our True Self is the calling and struggle of every genuine human life.
